World’s most powerful microscope

The development of materials relies on scientists’ understanding of their microstructure. The properties of materials, such as strength and hardness, are determined by the structure of the material at the atomic scale. It is increasingly important, for the development of innovative industrial materials and devices, to study these structures at an atomic and even sub-atomic scale.

The JEOL R005 FEGTEM electron microscope provides double aberration correction with a cold field-emission gun for higher electron beam brightness and smaller energy spread, 300kV for higher resolution to achieve 0.5Å resolution.
