Mark Rainforth
Director Professor
Professor Mark Rainforth is a Director of the Mercury Centre, he is an international expert in materials processing (metals and ceramics), mechanical properties (particularly wear resistance) and characterisation.

Iain Todd
Centre Director
Dr Iain Todd is a Director of the Mercury Centre, his current research interests centre on non-equilibrium processing, the development of novel and conventional metallic materials and processing technologies for their manufacture.

Martin Highett
Centre Manager
Dr. Martin I Highett is the Centre Manager of the Mercury Centre. Martin has a strong background in both the academic and commercial sectors.
Martin has a large amount of experience in commercial and public sector project management of product R&D as well as technical marketing and sales for contract research services. Martin draws on both his academic and commercial skills to Mercury Centre services to the commercial sectors.

Alfred Sidambe
Manufacturing Officer
Dr Alfred Sidambe is the Manufacturing Officer at the Mercury Centre specialising in Metal Injection Moulding (MIM).
Since obtaining his PhD in 2006 from Cranfield University (UK) on the injection moulding of polymer bonded magnets, Dr. Sidambe has developed extensive knowledge in powder metallurgy particularly the processing of metal alloys via MIM. Dr. Sidambe also has experience of materials characterisation, especially of Titanium Alloys, Stainless Steels, Nickel Alloys as well as Platinum Group Metals.

Peng Zeng
Senior Experimental Officer
Dr Peng Zeng is the Experimental Officer of Mercury Centre. She provides technical support for electron microscopy, which covers both the training of users and assistance in problem solving. She also carries out consultancy work for the Mercury Centre.
She completed her PhD in the Dept. of Engineering Materials at the University of Sheffield and gained experience in Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) for various materials.

James Hunt
Deep Repair Officer
Sharing his time between developing Deep Repair technologies and Business Development, James is able to call upon his extensive experience of a wide range of industrial sectors and materials processing techniques to find you the optimum solution.
Since graduating in Materials Science at Brunel University in 1997, James has spent much of his time in industry gaining firsthand experience of the commercial pressures and drivers towards developing new products and processes.

Yuanming Zhang
Additive Manufacturing Officer
Dr Yuanming Zhang is an Additive Manufacturing Officer at the Mercury Centre. His current research interests include additive layer manufacturing technologies and related engineering design for complex metallic and ceramic components.
Yuanming obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield. He has multidisciplinary research and industrial experience in product design and development, manufacturing dynamics, rapid prototyping and autonomous mobile robots.
